pomegranate juice have high level of powerful antioxidants in it thus have a superior ability to fight harmful free radicals in our body.Though the pomegranate juice is little bit tart and sweet we can enjoy its smoothies,sherbat, milkshakes,yogurt parfait….or in whatsoever form since pomegranate simply tastes delicious in this summer.The pomegranate shake is a super coolant .When diet concern its the best energy source.

INGREDIENTS FOR pomegranate shake:             

  • POM FRUIT -2(or readymade juice a cup)
  • Yogurt -2 cup(optional of shake)
  • Strawberries -4
  • Handful of ice

PREPARATION of pomegranate juice:

  1. For pomegranate juice combine pomegranate,ice,strawberry,a little bit of sugar if you insist in a blender and blend it until smooth,sieve it and serve chilled.
  2. For pomegranate shake simply blend everything with yogurt,and serve immediately.
    It really cools and refreshes your body in hot summer.

BANANA FRUIT SMOOTHIE

Banana Fruit Smoothie

There are too many ways of preparing  banana smoothie recipes.Bananas seem to make the smoothie the texture that every one enjoys.And it is able to taste well with almost everything you can combine with it.

Pineapples offer a unique sweet and tangy taste that is great in smoothie,it also mingles well with any fruit,and enriches its taste in its own way.

It is is very easy to make and all ingredients you will probably have in your refrigerator already.

INGREDIENTS for Banana Fruit Smoothie:

  • Banana-1 large           banana FRUIT SMOOTHIE
  • Milk-1 cup
  • Yogurt-1 cup
  • Pineapple slices-2 big
  • Ice cubes
  • Sugar-1 tsp(optional)

PREPARATION:

  1. In a blender ,combine all. Make some thin slices of banana and keep aside . Puree the fruits,yogurt, milk, sugar, ice cubes  until it forms a smooth drink.
  2. Pour in a large glass , place a scoop of mango ice cream(OPTIONAL) on top along with the thin slices of banana, and serve it chilled.

THIS MAKES A HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS DRINK FOR ALL….

Mango Soup

INGREDIENTS:

  • Mango – 1
  • Cucumber – 1
  • Coconut scrapped -3tblsp
  • Red chilly – 2
  • Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Fenugreek seeds
  • Butter milk – 1 cup
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt for taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Remove the skin of the mango cut into big slices. Peel the skin of cucumber cut into small bits. Fry red chillies in a little oil grind it with coconut into a smooth paste.
  2. Pour enough water in a vessel add mango, after it is cooked grind to a smooth paste,and pour in the same vessel .Now boil this mango stalk with cucumber bits, while boiling add the coconut paste boil again before removing from fire add the butter milk and salt.
  3. Add the seasonings (Mustard,fenugreek seeds,Curry leaves fried in a little oil) at last.You can also decorate with fresh cream on top.

RICE BALL DUMPLING ( Kozhukattai )

This is one of the famous festival recipes mainly prepared during the month of Muharram, Islamic New Year.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Riceflour-1 cup      muharam-kozhukattai
  • Sugar 1/2 cup
  • Dessicated coconut-1/2 cup
  • Warm water
  • Coconut oil-1 tsp

PREPARATION:

  1. Mix rice flour,sugar coconut(can also use fresh  scrapped coconut) with warm water firmly until it forms a dough consistency.
  2. Now make small balls or any shape of your choice by applying some oil in your hands.And place in a steamer plate coated with some coconut oil ,this does not allows it to stick together.
  3. Let it steam for 4 minutes.Take it out and cool for a minute.Now its ready to serve.

If you don’t have rice flour you can prepare in your home by soaking raw rice for 15 minutes. Then dry it by placing it in a towel,not under direct sunlight. Grind it coarsely.Now you have the homemade rice flour  ready in your hands.

The best food for all according to all health organizations,is steamed food.Any type of steamed food must be taken in our daily meal,for a good healthy and tasteful life.

Another variation from this recipe which i want to share with you is the milk kozhukattai.You can make the steamed balls and keep aside.

Now boil milk or coconut milk with added sugar and raisins.While boiling put the rice balls and simmer for 10 minutes .Delicious snack is ready to serve.This is one of  keralas and chettinads famous morning breakfast recipe.Traditionally done in coconut milk, still its taste can be remembered in our taste buds whenever we hear its name pall kozhukattai…

LEMONADE

INGREDIENTS:

  • Lemon juice-4 tbsp
  • Sugar or honey to taste
  • Jaljira powder-2 tbsp(spice mix)
  • Crushed ice
  • Crushed ginger-1/4 tsp
  • Chilled water-3 glass
  • Mint to garnish

PREPARATION:

Take a large mug,add the lemon juice and the remaining ingredients until desired thickness,and mix well.

Serve in chilled glasses garnished with lemon slices and mint leaves.

SPICED BUTTER MILK

INGREDIENTS:

  • Yogurt-1/2 cup
  • Chilled water- 3glass
  • Chopped cilantro-1/4 cup
  • Mint leaves-1/4 cup
  • Green chilly chopped-1
  • Jeera powder-1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder roasted-1/4 tsp
  • Black salt-1tsp
  • Salt to taste

PREPARATION:

Blend all the ingredients until the mint and the cilantro gets crushed well in a blender.
Serve very chilled.
